Omotunde Ogundimu Speaks on Cancer Diagnosis
According to Ogundimu, she has been living with severe pain since being diagnosed with cervical cancer. She described the illness as one of the most difficult challenges she has ever faced and said the cost of treatment has become overwhelming.
The actress disclosed that she initially tried to manage the situation without asking the public for help. However, after exhausting available resources, she said she had no choice but to seek support from compassionate Nigerians.
She explained that although a few individuals have assisted her, her children have shouldered most of the financial responsibility, leaving them with little to care for themselves.
Actress Says She Is a Widow and Single Mother
Ogundimu revealed that she has been raising her three children alone since the death of her husband in 2012.
Expressing gratitude for her children, she said they have remained by her side throughout her health battle despite the enormous financial strain the illness has placed on the family.
She pleaded with members of the public to help her continue treatment, saying her greatest wish is simply to recover and regain her health.
Claims of Being Sidelined in Nollywood
Beyond her health struggles, the veteran actress also alleged that she has not been getting acting opportunities in recent years.
According to her, she reached out to several colleagues in the movie industry in search of movie roles but received little or no support.
She also appealed to anyone in the Nollywood industry who may feel offended by her in the past to forgive her, stressing that she has dedicated more than three decades of her life to acting.
Ogundimu noted that she has spent approximately 35 years in the Nigerian film industry and hopes to receive encouragement and assistance during this difficult period.
Public Appeal for Assistance
The actress acknowledged that speaking publicly about her condition may attract criticism from some people, but said preserving her life is more important than the fear of public reactions.
She urged Nigerians to show compassion by supporting her medical treatment, saying the pain she experiences daily has become extremely severe.
